The Boyle County Board of Education approved the 2019-2020 school calendar at its regular monthly meeting on Thursday, December 20, 2018. Pursuant to KRS 158.070, the annual instructional calendar was recommended by the district’s calendar committee.
Appointed by Superintendent Mike LaFavers, the ten-person committee is comprised of parents, teachers, staff, administrators and local tourism and business officials. The group reviewed and discussed state laws and regulations, past instructional calendars, feedback survey results and community considerations before reaching consensus and recommending a calendar to Superintendent LaFavers and the Board of Education.

In addition to the above dates, the committee recommended teacher professional development days and staff development days. Kentucky law mandates that students receive no less than 1,062 hours of instructional time and no less than 170 attendance days each school year.
