Boyle County Schools Considers New Nonresident Admittance Policy

New Nonresident Admittance Policy

During the March 9 working session, the Boyle County Board of Education received a presentation about House Bill 563, and during the March 17 regular meeting, the board had its first reading of the policy.

The board will hear a second reading at its April 21 regular meeting, and if enacted, the new nonresident admittance policy will take effect April 22.

Here are a few highlights of the policy:

  • Grade levels at each of the five district schools will be capped.

  • All applications for new nonresident students will be time stamped based on the submission of the application. Enrollment will be available first come, first served.

  • Any current Boyle County students, both residents and nonresidents, will be grandfathered.

Other details, including charging tuition to nonresidents, are under consideration at this time.
