PERRYVILLE ELEMENTARY RECOGNIZED AS NATIONAL DISTINGUISHED SCHOOL

National ESEA Distinguished School

Students honored nationally for exceptional academic performance

DANVILLE, KY—November 16, 2018—The National Association of ESEA State Program Administrators (NAESPA) recently announced that Perryville Elementary School has been named a National ESEA Distinguished School by the Kentucky Department of Education. Perryville Elementary is one of two schools in Kentucky and one of 100 schools across the nation to earn this honor for exceptional student achievement in 2018.

The program recognizes exemplary Title I schools that hold students to high standards and demonstrate high levels of school effectiveness. Perryville Elementary School was selected as a distinguished school for exceptional student performance for two or more consecutive years.

The Boyle County Board of Education recognized the designation at their November 15, 2018, board meeting. Superintendent Mike LaFavers stated, “Congratulations to Principal Slone, as well as the entire team of Perryville educators, staff, parents, and of course, students. They are a shining example of what can happen when everyone works together to achieve student success.”

He continued, “Celebrating their success on a national platform is an extraordinary opportunity. It’s so important that we recognize the good work that all of our schools are doing to increase school effectiveness. We are striving to be national leaders, and this honor highlights Perryville Elementary as a model for the rest of the country.”

It is an incredible honor to be recognized with a national award of this caliber,” Perryville Elementary Principal Chris Slone remarked. “We are grateful to our parents and to the entire community for the support we receive. It’s such an important part of assuring high student success. We know these kids are special, and to have them recognized by someone else, especially on a national level, is indescribable.”

A project of the NAESPA, the National ESEA Distinguished Schools Program publicly recognizes qualifying federally funded schools for the outstanding academic achievements of their students. It highlights the efforts of schools across the country making significant improvements for their students.

Delegates from Perryville Elementary School will be formally recognized on January 31, 2019, at the NAESPA annual conference in Kansas City, Missouri.
