SCHOOLS TO DISMISS EARLY ON NOVEMBER 16 Early Dismissal

On Friday, November 16, 2018, Boyle County Schools will dismiss two hours early to accommodate students, families and staff wishing to attend the Boyle County High School football game in Belfry, Kentucky. Please note that the game’s kick-off time has been moved up to 7:00 PM.

SENIORS RECOGNIZED FOR HIGH ACHIEVEMENT ON ACT ACT Gala

Last night, Boyle County High School (BCHS) hosted its eighth annual ACT Gala in recognition of the forty seniors who received a composite score of 28 or higher on the ACT.

SAFETY UPDATE Safety Update

In August, the Board of Education approved a two-year School Safety Strategic Plan aimed at strengthening safety efforts throughout the district. The $415,000 plan covers four focus areas, including mental health, safety drills and protocols, supervision and security—with seventeen stated goals and specific action plans.

BOYLE COUNTY EDUCATION FOUNDATION LAUNCHES TAKE A SEAT FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN Take a Seat

The Boyle County Education Foundation, Inc. has launched a fundraising effort in support of the new Boyle County Schools Theatre for the Performing Arts. The goal for the Take a Seat campaign is to raise  $125,000—the cost of purchasing and installing the theatre’s 500 seats. Campaign gifts of $250 will be recognized with an engraved plaque affixed to a seat.

ACTIVE SHOOTER EXERCISE PLANNED AT BCHS ON AUG 3 Active Shooter Meeting

Boyle County High School will be the site of a mock active shooter exercise on August 3, 2018, from 7:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Led by the Danville-Boyle County Emergency Management Agency (EMA), the full-scale exercise will test the responsiveness of local emergency agencies during an active shooter scenario.

BOARD HOLDS FIRST READING OF SAFETY STRATEGIC PLAN Board Hears Safety Plan

Last night, the Boyle County Board of Education held the first reading of a three-year School Safety Strategic Plan. The draft plan, prepared by the Boyle County Schools’ Safety Strategic Planning Committee, outlines recommendations to add school resource officers, introduce a new visitor management system, expand safety trainings and enhance mental health support structures.

DATE SET FOR 2018-2019 SPORTS PHYSICALS Sports Physicals Scheduled

Sports Physicals for the 2018-2019 school year will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 from 5:30pm - 7:30pm for $10.  The event will be held at Ephraim McDowell Family and Internal Medicine located (across the street from the Bunny Davis Tennis Courts) at 105 Ponder Court, Suite 104, Danville, Kentucky. 

ELEVEN REBELS NAMED GOVERNOR'S SCHOLARS Governor's Scholars

Eleven Boyle County High School juniors have been selected to participate in the 2018 Kentucky Governor’s Schools Programs. The Kentucky Governor’s Scholars Program (GSP) and the Kentucky Center Governor’s School for the Arts (GSA) are summer residential programs that offer intense learning experiences to the state’s top students.

COMMISSIONER APPOINTS NEW BOARD MEMBER News

Kentucky Department of Education Commissioner, Stephen Pruitt, has appointed Laura Guerrant to the Boyle County Board of Education as the Division #5 representative. Guerrant took the oath of office on Thursday, April 12, at a special called board meeting. 

BOARD AMENDS SCHOOL CALENDAR Board Amends Calendar

The Boyle County Board of Education approved a plan to amend the 2017 - 2018 school calendar at a special called meeting on Thursday, April 12. The plan shifts the last day of school for students to May 31, accounting for four non-traditional instruction days and eight school closure days.

The Boyle County school district is closed today due to a high volume of staff absences. By early this morning, one fourth of the district’s teachers had reported that they would not be at school today.

THEATRE PROGRAM RECEIVES NBC'S R.I.S.E. AMERICA GRANT RISE America Program Grant

Boyle County High School has been awarded a $10,000 grant to enhance and revitalize its theatre program. Inspired by NBC’s upcoming drama Rise, the network’s R.I.S.E. (Recognizing and Inspiring Student Expression) America program has awarded grants to 50 high schools across the nation.

FOUR NAMED 2018 NATIONAL MERIT FINALISTS National Merit Finalists

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) has included four Boyle County High School seniors on its list of approximately 15,000 National Merit Scholarship Finalists.

The Boyle County Conservation District hosted an awards banquet honoring students and teachers for their participation in the 2017 Conservation Writing and Jim Claypool Art Contest: Water is Life.

2018-2019 SCHOOL CALENDAR RELEASED 2018 -2019 School Calendar Released

The Board of Education approved the 2018-2019 calendar at its regular monthly meeting on December 21.

NEW CHILD IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS New Immunization Requirements Released

Beginning July 1, 2018, all students in preschool through 12th grade must show proof of having received two doses of the Hepatitis A vaccine to attend school. In addition, students aged 16 years or older must show proof of having received two doses of the Meningococcal ACWY (MenACWY) vaccine. If the first dose of MenACWY was received at age 16 or older, the second dose is not required for school entry.
